Job Description :
Development of
power transmission belts & belt systems
▪ Lead belt and belt system R&D projects
▪ Support R&D projects and tasks as team member,
▪ Provide support to other functions & departments as R&D team member
▪ Exchange R&D know how throughout global PTG locations
▪ Support global standardization and consolidatation of belt specificiations
Belt Development
▪ Develop belt specifications to define materials and process steps for building prototype belts.
▪ Define the sample mold size and belt profile dimensions & geometry for specific belt sections, length, and pitch
▪ Develop new belt constructions to improve belt functional and durability performance
▪ Improve belt quality and to reduce process cost, scrap cost and material cost
▪ Otain the materals for producing sample belts to fulfill the project/customer requirements
▪ Document test results of prototype belts in a globally shared database
Project Plan
▪ Ensure project plans are defined to reach the R&D project targets. Regularly review status of projects for timeliness and completion of requirements
▪ Support of Application Engineering, PPI, Operations and Quality departments to satisfy customer requirements
Product Launch and Localization Support
Product Launch and Localization Support
▪ Work with PPI to ensure a successful product launch and stable production process (low scrap rate, robust product data)
▪ Coordinate with R&D controller the belt cost calculation
▪ Provide support to QM to evaluate processability, sample production scrap rate, and sample quality
▪ Support of localization activities (materials-R&D and processes-PPI)
Design Verification Plan&Product Audit plan
▪ Define DVP and product DFMEA to meet the project requirement book and develop test plans and procedures
▪ Define procedures for requalification plan (audit plan)
Supplier Development
▪ Work with Material Development to define specifications and test procedures for raw material suppliers (cord, fabric, coating, rubber)
▪ Define procedures to check availability of raw material sources
▪ Assist in the development of new alternative material suppliers and support audit if necessary
Belt testing, LAB Testing
▪ Define with Test Department necessary new test methods to check product quality
▪ Organize the prototype belt testing by physical and dynamic labs
▪ Evaluate the test results, documentation of test results for discussion with application engineering and/or customer
Returned part analysis
▪ Evaluate returned failed belts from customers and competitor belts to identify opportunities for belt construction improvements
▪ Document findings with Microscope photos, and overview of technical belt data like changing of belt geometry and in fuctional data (cord tensile strength, adhesion)
Job Requirements :
-Overall technical knowledge of power transmission systems;
-Technical knowledge of Rubber materials (compounds, textile cord, textile fabric)-Expert
-Overall knowledge of belt development/ physics/ belt manufacturing processes-Expert
-Negotiation Skills-Advance
-Project Management Skills-Advance
-Quality management methods (FMEA, statistics, 6 sigma, Yokoten)-Basic
-Good educated and motivated person with master degree of Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering
